This year 2013 has been a great start,we have just sent off another 10 boxes to Afghanistan so that makes 40 for this year,a great start!
Thank you to all the people that make it possible for me to do the care packages and to Braden for his help and continual interest in all the goings on that occur getting the packages ready.
I have a huge amount of Balaclavas ready to go and beanies so I think perhaps I shall have to request an address to send these to to be handed out so they can be made use of in the cold weather over there.
I am humbled by the thankyou letters I receive, they are not expected but very much appreciated.

The generosity of our little town just overwhelms me on a daily basis.
I have just packages up 11 boxes for South Sudan. There are 10 young men and 1 young lady so they will have a little bit of joy in about 6 weeks time when they receive a package.
in the meantime the ladies in town have been madly knitting balaclavas and beanies and I have many to post to Afghanistan next batch.
So far this year our tally is 19 for Afghanistan and 11 for South Sudan.

                                                        Well Done Aberdeen

Our little town did an amazing job over the 2012 posting care Packages period..we posted 178 boxes.
I am so proud of our community.
We have been sending to Afghanistan mostly but this month will send to South Sudan.
So the lasied in town have been busily knitting beanies for me to send and i cannot express how thrilled that makes me feel.
So a huge thank you.

                                                      Kids do it Everytime

Recently our little Pre School did paintings and made Christmas decorations for me to send to our soldiers. To say the girls and boys did a beautiful, sweet job is an understatement. The paintings were delightful and they were of everything from family, to maps the soldiers could follow.
Twenty troops received their packages containing these last week each soldier got 2 painting and a decoration Angel, and the thank you notes have been coming through,we do not expect to be thanked but when  take a copy of the letters to the pre school the teachers and children get so excited it is wonderful.
It has been so very touching that the recipients of these works of art have sent pics of them hanging on their wall, one soldier told the children they would follow the map on their next mission!how special that they would take the time to do that for the children,
It is also special because this gives the tiny school more points towards their funding and we did not even think of that.
So by saying thank you to our troops and making them smile and some even cry with the kindness of the children it has become a circle of thankfulness.
God works in wonderful ways,he gave me a sickness that made me slow down from much of my community work that I loved,in looking for something I thought I could do that was not so hectic,I came upon Care Packages for our troops and quietly went about getting donations from businesses and people around town for things to place in the boxes, now our spare room at times resembles a supermarket,I am kept busy packaging and making the Care Packages up and even at times have to have the help of a wonderful little fellow over the road he is 9 and is learning about "doing for others" even going so far as having a "Caring for our Troops "day at school this week for more donations.
To date with help from a wonderful lady Marg in Muswelbrook, and the wonderful people of Aberdeen we have sent 172 packages this year,we are very proud of ourselves but more so that we made 172 troops very happy.
On every box on the outside we write "Because we Care" and simply that is because we do.
